H. Gregory Mermel, CPA

Greg Mermel was born and raised in Houston. He came to Chicago for graduate school and never left. He has a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and a Certificate from the Harvard University Institute in Arts Administration.

After some years with a national CPA firm, he established his own practice in 1980 in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. He was also for a number of years active as a theatrical producer and manager in Chicago. For eighteen years, he was the author of a popular “Money and Taxes” column for the Chicago trade newspaper PerformInk. He also taught federal taxation in the Management Department of Columbia College for several years.

Joshua S. Goldman, CPA

Josh Goldman was born in Newburgh, New York, and was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his B.A. in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a minor in philosophy.

Prior to moving to Chicago, Josh worked for two years in a national accounting firm’s audit practice in Baltimore. He moved to Chicago and joined our firm in 2009. Since then, he has accumulated broad experience in taxation and other non-audit areas of practice and learned to enjoy the closer client relationships typical of our practice.

Liza Wickersty

Liza Wickersty was born in Puerto Rico, moved to New York City when she was five and to Chicago in 2002. After joining our firm in 2009, she quickly became responsible for coordinating among Greg, Josh and our clients, and making sure the office functions smoothly. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without her.
